Omiyage - Utsunomiya

Prefecture: Tochigi City: Utsunomiya Unique Feature: gyoza dumplings

Local Connection:
Utsunomiya is the capital city of Tochigi Prefecture and well known for its cocktail bars and gyozo dumplings. Not to be confused with wontons, these dumplings are filled with veggie or ground meat, then rolled in a piece of dough. Then the edges of the dough are crimped shut. Next they are steamed or boiled. Perfect for dipping in soy sauce.
