Omiyage - Morioka

Prefecture:Iwate City: Morioka Unique Feature: Chagu Chagu Umako Horse Festival

Local Connection:
Historically, the Chagu Changu parade was considered a reward for the horse's hard work during rice planting. Dressed in colorful harnesses and bells, the horses are led from a shrine honoring the horse deity in Takizawa Village to Morioka City. "Chagu chagu" comes from the sound that the bells make during the walk.
