Omiyage - Kamakura

Prefecture: Kanagawa City: Kamakura Unique Feature: The Great Buddha (Daibutsu)

Local Connection:
Located to the west of Tokyo, Kamakura is a well known tourist destination and home to Japan's 2nd largest Buddha statue. The Amida Buddha was once housed in a wooden temple but a tsunami wave destroyed the structure in the 15th century. Since then, the Buddha has enjoyed the open air.
